Stardate 911229
Office of Captain Worekh Luta
Fourteenth Fleet Chief of Staff
Luta sat, stewing to himself over having to cut his shore leave short
while he reviewed crew performance evaluations from a few starships, and
noted which reports were late. The doorchime rang and the Klingon
Captain looked up. "Come in!"
Raising her brow Vilqa stepped forward; as of yet she was not aware why
it was that she was called by Captain Luta, perhaps she thought it had
something to do with the previous mission at Alit'ras. "Captain," K`y
nodded ever so faitnly, "Captain Vilqa reporting as requested."
Luta nodded with a smile and stood from his desk and walked toward
K`ylana, right past her into the hallway, "Walk with me Captain Vilqa."
"Al--right," the part klingon female's brow rose even more. Shifting on
her toes K`ylana moved to keep pace with Luta. "Where are we going Sir?"
A direct escourt to the brig for something? One could only wonder...
"We're going for a walk, Captain." Worekh kept a diligent but not quick
pace. He imagined Vilqa would be grimacing with uncertainty, but he kept
walking. "How do you enjoy commanding the Audax?"
"I enjoy it Captain," She laughed, "Not a dry moment on that vessel. She
does kick up quite a punch; one that I've learnt time and time again is
stronger than imagined."
Luta smiled, and stopped at the walkway that had a row of transparent
aluminum windows open to the contents of the Starbase. "And if I were to
re-assign you off of the Audax?"
Vilqa stopped midstide as her eyes narrowed, in her mind she thought,
'the hell you're not' but verbally she reponded in a more appropriate
manner, "Then Sir I'd have to inquire why the change and to where I am
going?" She then quipped, "And of course what did I do wrong."
"I wasn't going to tell you that you or your crew did anything wrong.
Quite the opposite, in fact." Luta turned to his right 90 degrees to
take a look at the Vimy Ridge, the starship that he'd retrieved from
Bajor earlier in the week. "I'm suggesting that you've done things...
quite well in fact."
K`ylana glanced to where Luta turned to; there was more than one vessel
but one stuck out far more than the others but it couldn't be. Not a
Galaxy. "Thank you Captain." She nodded and half smiled, "That is
something I am honoured to hear."
Luta asked, "Are you familiar with the Battle of Arras? During Earth's
first World War?"
"Yes Sir... it is something we were taught of in school. Canadian
history," K`ylana then hesitated a moment as she reflected, "Vimy Ridge
if I recall."

"Vimy Ridge... also known as Hill 145 was one of the deciding points in
the Battle of Arras." Luta pointed at the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Vimy
Ridge, "That ship... her name has quite a legacy. The greatest powers of
the Earth at the time fought vehemently over it."
K`ylana felt her stomach drop somewhat, "Many men lost their lives on
that ridge." Shifting, perhaps a bit nervously she looked at the vessel,
"She is beautiful; even sitting still."
"She is beautiful... and I'm glad to hear you say that. Because she's
yours." Luta smiled.
Knees giving way every so slightly the female stepped forward to the
railing, "Captain? I think I am imagining things... Did you say she was
mine?"
He smiled again, "I did. But... before you accept her you need to know
that this ship comes with a price. We've got a mission for you."
"Price?" K`y adjusted her jacket, "What is that Sir?"
"Well, we'll go over the specifics of the mission in my office. First, I
have to know... have I peaked your interest?"
"Indeed Captain." K`ylana didn't want to move from this spot with the
great view, "Let's return to your office...." She hesitated, "My crew?"
"Your senior staff will join you on the Vimy Ridge. We've got a shortage
of officers in the vicinity at the moment and we need you to take this
ship out... as soon as is possible." The half-Klingon Chief of Staff
turned and made his way back toward his office with the half-Klingon
starship Captain in tow.
Vilqa followed, "I will get her out Sir. There's nothing better then an
initial shakedown of a vessel that's new to you."
